Item Description
The 1936 Sugar Bowl took place Jan. 1, 1936, at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, La w/the LSU Tigers representing the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the TCU Horned Frogs representing the Southwest Conference (SWC). TCU won the game 3-2. Offered here is a 7.75x10-5/8" textured paper covered program for the game. Cover features great image by Billy Couret Jr. of football player (w/o helmet) bursting through paper and reaching towards Sugar Bowl trophy w/"LSU Vs TCU" text. Printed by Franklin Ptg. Co. Inc. of New Orleans and originally sold for 25¢. Four pages include photo roster of LSU football players w/one page devoted to "LSU Cheerleaders," showing both male and female cheerleaders. Four pages include photo roster of TCU football players. Various sponsors are listed throughout, including Shell Motor Oil, Super-Shell Gasoline, Coca-Cola, Luzianne Coffee, etc. Center spread features roster for teams w/scorecard feature. Scorecard is unused and center spread shows heavy wear, w/ripping and 1" tear by top staple and .75x1" piece missing out of upper right page margin. Good/VG. Program has some even aging and scattered handling wear. Fine overall.
