Item Description
16.25" tall painted and glazed ceramic figurine of Gary Cooper in Western garb on 4.75x6.75" base. From Vernon Kilns movie star series, ©1940. This is variety w/tan base rather than blue. Produced in conjunction w/1940 film "Northwest Mounted Police." Inside of base is stamped "Approved By Gary Cooper - Sculptured By Janice Pettee." Both names are facsimile signatures. "By Vernon Potteries, Ltd. - Made In U.S.A." text also appears below names. Wonderfully detailed w/tiny steer skull watch fob depicted on Cooper's vest. Tiny nick on back underside of hat brim, but this has been glazed over and is as produced. Figurine is o/w bright, glossy and NM. All from this Vernon Kilns series are rarely seen, and only a few in the series were produced in this large size (others were produced in 10" size). First we've offered and as impressive as any Vernon Kilns figurine we've offered in our 49 years. See following item #1083.
