Item Description
10-3/8x17". Produced by the Harlem Defense Council in the wake of the shooting of 15 year old African American James Powell in 1964. Following Powell's death over 4,000 New Yorkers rioted on six consecutive nights. This poster can be seen in press photos being carried by demonstrators. Also included in this lot is a September 1964 issue of "Liberator" w/an article about the incident and a photo of the poster. Three horizontal folds, overall light age toning and moderate handling wear. Fine. Rare.
