Item Description
1.5" with Cranley Mfg. Co. Chicago on tin covered reverse with fixed horizontal bar pin. Young man with "Spalding" across shirt he wears over a pull over shirt posed holding a softball all against ornate patterned background. Softball began in Chicago in 1887 as an indoor game and was known by names such as indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball and others. An outstanding rare and very early button documenting this sport.
