Item Description
Lot consists of 35x45" cut-out and color sheet w/large Doodyville map w/"This Is Your Doodyville Village Green. Color It, Complete The Houses And Put Them In Their Places" text. ©1953 The Welch Grape Juice Co. Inc. Cut-out area has buildings and characters of Howdy Doody, Flub-A-Dub, The Inspector, Buffalo Bob, Clarabell, Dilly Dally, Princess, Oil Well Willie, Mr. Bluster. Many buildings are identified by character names including "Summerfall Winterspring" teepee. Folded as issued w/scattered wear along fold lines and at fold crease intersections. VF overall. Comes w/complete set of eight flattened 5.75x7.75" cardboard bottle carriers that open to full dimensioned 4x4x6" full color illustrated houses. These include houses w/names of the characters mentioned above, each house having some themes incorporating specific character (ie - Inspector has large eyeball and police station look while Clarabell's house looks like circus wagon). Interior is segmented into four cardboard compartments as containers originally held like number of Welch's grape juice bottles. The cardboard dividers are illustrated as well, allowing for viewing through windows when cut out. Three flats have windows punched out. Oil Well Willie has some scratching to exterior, but o/w flats are Exc. overall w/just lt. even aging. Undersides have listing of all eight "Doodyville" houses and mentions "Doodyville Village." Bottom also includes mail offer to acquire map w/sides having roof and porch additions for the houses plus other character and accessory parts to cut out, color and add to houses to complete them before placing them on map. Rare to find all cardboard houses as unused and w/complete map (w/additional house parts).
