Item Description
.5x1" oval-shaped pinback button issued c. 1939 w/"New Adventure Comic Magazine" comic book title. Winged shield design w/"Junior Federal Men Club" text and "Special Operator" name above/below. The creators of Superman - Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster - also wrote/drew the "Federal Men" stories. This comic began w/"New Comics" in 1935 and w/issue #12 the title changed to "New Adventure," becoming "Adventure Comics Magazine" w/issue #32. This publication was part of the foundation of DC Comics. This button was produced in two styles; this oval-shaped and as a 1" dia. round button. Both are rare. Bastian Bros. Co. maker name on curl. Button has lt. trace of aging but remains bright and glossy. VF.
