Item Description
Lot of five pieces related to the 1958-1959 Lone Ranger Peace Patrol, a US Treasury sponsored US Savings Stamp and Bond program helmed by the Lone Ranger himself, Clayton Moore. Lot includes 2.5x4" membership card that has been boldly signed by Moore, who adds "The Lone Ranger" name. Card is o/w unused and Exc. 1.25" dia. "The Lone Ranger" pinback button features classic Merita Bread image of Lone Ranger on Silver. Glossy and Exc. 1.5" dia. "Lone Ranger Peace Patrol Member - Treasury Department" medallion w/"Enjoy Merita Bread" text shows some lt. wear and is VF overall. Next two items are typed sheets. First is memorandum from The Lou Smith Organization written to Jack Wrather and dated June 12, 1958. Letter mentions a meeting w/then Vice President Richard Nixon. Interestingly Smith refers to "The Feeling And Scuttlebut [sic] Around The Capitol Is That Any Day Maybe [sic] Ike's Last, And This Meeting And Photo Could Be With The Man Who Could Be President Next Week, Next Month, Next Year." While President Eisenhower suffered from ill health during his presidency, he would live until 1969. Letter has been signed by Smith in ink at bottom. Second is Lone Ranger's June 15, 1958 Washington, DC trip itinerary on US Treasury Department - Savings Bonds letterhead. Both typed sheets have some handling wear and are VF overall. A unique lot.
