8.75x11.25" hardcover w/160 pages published by Fantagraphics Books in 2009. This is an extremely limited "Bookplate Edition," hand-numbered #14 of just 50 copies that feature a special illustrated bookplate on front endpapers signed by nine contributors to this volume - Ray Bradbury, Mary (née Foster) McAskin, Marie (née Foster) Sasaninejad, Cullen Murphy, Brian Walker, Brian M. Kane, Todd Goldberg, Gary Gianni and Mark Schultz. This edition was given as a gift to the contributors (and was not available for retail) in appreciation of their support of the project. This is a first printing (which has long been out of print) of the book widely considered as the Holy Grail for Prince Valiant collectors. Compiled by award-winning Foster biographer Brian M. Kane, the book beautifully showcases the careers of artist Hal Foster, John Cullen Murphy (see previous item #2011) and Gary Gianni. In addition to updating the original version's story synopsis section w/over 30 years of material, the book also contains rare and new articles, including a never before reprinted newspaper feature from 1949 and Foster's final interview. Slightest smudge to Bradbury's signature, but o/w book is NM. A must-have for any Prince Valiant collector. From the collection of comics and illustration historian Brian M. Kane.
