Item Description
The three buttons with ribbons are 1.75" and the larger buttons are 3.5". Each was issued very shortly after the flight occurred. The group begins with one showing Alan Shepard "America's First Astronaut" who flew Freedom Seven in a 1961 sub-orbital flight. This is a real photo button. Two pinpoint tan spots on extreme right edge but rest is Mint. Next are two different buttons for the flight of John Glenn "America's First Man In Orbit" issued after his flight "Three Times Around The World" February 20, 1962. Both are Exc. and scarce with ribbons included. Next shows Gordon Cooper who flew Faith 7 on the longest and last Mercury flight May 15-16, 1963. Last shows "Grissom/Young" who flew Molly Brown the "First American Gemini" flight March 23, 1965. Some brass color off the reverse of the Cooper button but otherwise both of the larger buttons are NM displaying Mint.
