Item Description
Complete 14x18" pressbook w/24 pages (including covers) for the original release of the 1951 20th Century-Fox sci-fi classic directed by Robert Wise and starring Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlowe and Sam Jaffe. Contents include details on "Day The Earth Stood Still" contest, advertising/publicity, science-fiction fan clubs, teaser trailers, ad mats including posters, die-cut counter card showing Gort holding woman as seen on poster, Gort mask, promotional articles w/photos of the film's stars as well as film scenes, Civil Defense/Electricity tie-in, etc. Pressbook is complete w/bound-in mock "World News" newspaper featuring cover story about the arrival and threat of Klaatu and Gort's ship, Interior of this insert feature more newspaper style articles about the events depicted in the film. Back features banner image at top w/rest of page remaining blank. Pressbook shows moderate to heavy wear w/heavy pinch creases to spine w/6.5" archival tape repair at top and chips at bottom. Additional .75" tear just below center goes through entirety of book. Newspaper inset has even moderate aging. VG overall.
