Item Description
This piece unlisted in Hake and the original DeWitt book. It is a mate to DeWitt Grant 1868-78. The brass shell frame features an eagle at the top while below is the word "For" above a shield with ribbons below inscribed "President/Vice Prest". Ferrotype images read above "Horatio Seymour" and "Frank P. Blair". Seymour has only a microscopic 1/64" mark on his forehead and Blair has a nearly microscopic hairline on the outer upper perimeter of the ferrotype. This runs above his image and name and is very close to the brass circle edge showing the slightest bit in reflected light but viewed straight on it becomes essentially microscopic. Luster on the piece is muted. All details are extremely clear. Reverse has vertical stickpin. Overall VF and a seldom offered rarity.
