Item Description
13.5x16" mat w/12.5x15.5" sheet of black animation paper w/blocked image area measuring 7.75x10.5". Pastel art features scene from "Night On Bald Mountain" sequence of Disney's 1940 animated musical feature "Fantasia." Scene shows six demons dancing amid eerie green flames as three grotesque rock faces leer down from the mountain's cliffs. Art was created by Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen (1886-1957), who worked at Disney 1937-1941, returning briefly in 1952-1953. Known for his concept art and illustrations, his work was used extensively for the "Night On Bald Mountain" sequence. Lower right of sheet features the number "69" in yellow pastel. Sheet has several pin holes at corners and along margins, but art itself remains Exc. and is ready for framing. A truly stunning and rare piece of original art, from the artist who gave one of the most memorable sequences of "Fantasia" its own devilish style.
