Item Description
Like the previous lot of football players these are about 8" tall each with a three-dimensional felt body and with celluloid feet, celluloid hands, celluloid bats (except one with a ball) and celluloid heads. Back of each head is marked with the word "Japan". The felt bodies have some moderate general age with the Phillies example being more tanned than the others and with scattered brown spots on the Yankees example. The Phillies example includes a tag from AFL-CIO union group along with text "Children's Day At The Phillies/Connie Mack Stadium/July 18, 1959." Tag has corner creases and ½" edge tear plus a hand written inked note on the blank reverse dated for that day and noting that the game was between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Phillies "Score 5-2 In Favor Of Phillies-Ed Bouchee Hit A Homer!" The head of this doll has a dent on the left hand side. Others in the group have buttons for: Milwaukee Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati, Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Athletics, Cubs, Washington Nationals and one with a portrait button of "Ted Williams" although button has been slightly flattened with small dent on reverse collet and a pair of 1/8" rub marks and a few other tiny marks on the celluloid front. Majority are fine to VF. 1950s era. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
