Item Description
One of many versions, this is 1933 "Exhibition Set" No. 3. 13.5x20.5x1.25" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid featuring graphics of child magician w/wand pointing to table w/several magic tricks, including top hat w/white rabbit. Front of tablecloth has image of winged devil w/"Mysto" name. A.C. Gilbert, 1933. Box has moderate corner tip wear w/fading to right side panel of lid, which extends slightly to main lid panel and other side panels. Lid has scattered edge wear w/1" split at corner and some scattered surface paper splits. Box is VG/Fine overall. Set appears complete and comes w/instruction book for this set (as well as instruction book for "No. 1" set) and die-cut insert w/magic trick names printed in appropriate spots. These are- "Vanishing Handkerchief, Pick It Out Card Trick, Multiplying Billiard Balls, Phantom Card Trick, Indian Beads, Mysto Jacks, Responsive Mystery Block, Spiral Wire Illusion, Multiplying Coin, Topsy-Turvy Match, Pencil In The Buttonhole Svengali Mind Reading Wonder, The Hiding Chessman, Mysterious Linking Rings, Phantom Ring, The Galloping Dime, The Great Buddha Money Mystery" and metal-tipped wooden "Magic Wand." Instruction book for this set has scattered moisture staining to cover and first few pages and is Fine (other instruction book is VF). Magic trick contents appear unused and aside from some scattered dust soiling, are VF/Exc. Nicely designed set. Barry Lutsky Collection.
