Item Description
27x41" one sheet poster for the original 1955 release of the 15 chapter Columbia serial starring John Hart as Captain Africa, "Mighty Jungle Avenger." This was the long-awaited sequel to Columbia's 1943 "The Phantom" (see item #2033). Produced by Sam Katzman, who refused to pay King Features Syndicate their royalty demands and changed the name to "Captain Africa." The 1943 Phantom still appeared in this serial via a vast amount of stock footage. This is for Chapter 13, "Renegades At Bay!" Poster features image of Captain Africa holding guns plus additional action scenes and jungle animal images. Inset film scene at lower right shows Captain Africa punching man. Poster has been folded (now rolled) as issued and has pin hole at center left w/small pull. Margins show lt. scattered wear w/minor wear at fold crease intersections. Would display VF is framed.
