Item Description
27x40" one-sheet poster for original release of the 1943 15 chapter Columbia serial starring Tom Tyler as The Phantom. Based on Lee Falk's comic strip "The Phantom," the serial also starred Jeanne Bates as The Phantom's girlfriend Diana Palmer, and Ace the Wonder Dog as The Phantom's trusty companion Devil. All three are pictured at top, w/near full body image of The Phantom firing gun and yelling. This is for Chapter 1, "The Sign Of The Skull" and features inset image from the serial, w/Devil laying beside The Phantom. Poster has been folded (now rolled) and shows wear w/pinholes at corners, scattered small margin tears and aged strips of tape at top/bottom center margins. Lower right corner shows moderate wear w/.75" area being somewhat ragged. Fold crease intersections show wear w/small holes having tape repairs on back. Phantom image has some scattered white spots of moisture. VG overall.
