Item Description
4.75x7". Textured card stock program reading "Tenth Anniversary Of The Southern Christian Leadership Conference August 14, 1967" and signed boldly at top in blue ball point pen "Best Wishes Martin Luther King." This event honored actor Sidney Poitier and singer Aretha Franklin who performed "Respect" and "Baby I Love You" to the crowd of 1,400 invited guests at Atlanta's Regency-Hyatt House Hotel. Reverse has seven .5" square areas of tape residue on reverse from scrap book mounting that are invisible when viewing from front. Only visible flaw is a trivial 1/8" horizontal edge tear two thirds of the way down the right side. Exc. displaying NM.  Also included is a 5.25x8" "Southern Christian Leadership Conference Tenth Anniversary Convention" program dated August 14-17, 1967. This multi-day schedule includes printed messages from King, Ralph Abernathy, SCLC Atlanta Affiliate Howard W. Creecy and Executive Director Andrew J. Young. Minor handling. Exc. This program was issued to all registered attendees while the autographed "Banquet" program was limited to only invited guests. An outstanding example of the civil rights leader's signature obtained the night of the event less than eight months before he would be assassinated in Memphis. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA/LOA.
