Item Description
Pair of 5.25x7.5" first edition Grosset & Dunlap hardcovers w/dustjackets. "The Lone Ranger" by Gaylord DuBois (©1936) shows moderate aging/moisture staining to unclipped DJ. Book shows wear and Fine overall w/two pages having some red marking. DuBois (1899-1993) was an American comic book and comic strip writer, also authoring BLBs and juvenile adventure novels. DuBois wrote over 3,000 comics stories over the course of his career and also wrote the first novel to feature The Lone Ranger (offered above). Lot also includes DuBois's New York State-issued 1947 trailer registration card that has been signed by the author in blue ink. Reistration has evenly aged and has some creases. Fine. Comes w/"The Lone Ranger Rides North" by Fran Striker (©1946) has been signed on frontispage by two actors who portrayed The Lone Ranger - Clayton Moore and John Hart. Both have signed in blue felt tip pen and both have added character name. DJ is unclipped w/some wear along margins and at top/bottom of spine. Small puncture by upper front by spine. Fine. Book itself has some corner tip wear to cover and pages have evenly tanned w/age. Fine/VF. Signatures are Exc. Scarce as double-signed. A unique lot for the Lone Ranger collector. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
