Item Description
Original illustrated cardboard box contains 8.75" tall die-cast metal and plastic toy made in Japan for the Japanese market by Popy, 1976. "UFO Robot Grendizer" was a Super Robot anime/manga created by manga artist Go Nagai. The third entry in the Mazinger trilogy, it was broadcast in Japan from Oct. 5, 1975 to Feb. 27, 1977. The robot's first US appearance was as part of Mattel's famed "Shogun Warriors" toyline, where he was known as Grandizer. Figure also comes w/4.5x9" wide plastic "Spacer" saucer, which has opening to insert Grendizer into, which is how the character flew. Comes w/original plastic bag (opened) containing plastic missile weapon and two pairs of fists that could be fired from spring-loaded arms. Box has American store price sticker comes w/original Styrofoam insert and illustrated instruction sheet. Box shows some shelf wear and is Fine/VF overall. Grendizer is NM as packaged w/no touch-ups and Spacer shows just lt. aging/wear and is VF/Exc.
