Item Description
1-5/8x2-3/8" Cuban cards were distributed in packs of Diaz cigarettes. The cards in this set feature players from the 1923-1924 Cuban Professional League. 84 cards are in the set, the largest and one of the scarcest of all 1920s Cuban card issues. Cards are numbered 1-83 and 85, no card #84 is known. Card fronts are printed in dark brown w/photos and names while backs include card number and description of the series w/offer for an album.
Rogelio Crespo played for parts of five seasons with four different clubs- the Cuban All-Stars of the Eastern Independent Negro League in 1918 and 1919 and 1926 in the Eastern Colored League of the Negro League as well as the Cuban League teams Habana(1918-19), split time with Almendares and Mariano (1922-23) and back to Almendares and yet another return to Mariano (1923-24). His career line is .239/.304/.635 with 66 RBIs over 201 games. This card is graded by SGC "A" Authentic and designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
