Item Description
8 x 11.5" full color 24 page catalog plus four page cover titled "Catalogue No. 25/Illuminated Edition/Ribbon Badges/The Whitehead  & Hoag Co. Newark, New Jersey/The Largest Badge And Button Business In The World". This is one of only two examples we've seen in 50 years. Of the many ribbon badges shown as samples, the earliest carries date of July 4, 1894 and the latest date is June, 1897. 58 different ribbon badges are shown, many at full or close to full size. In addition, the back cover shows 28 mostly advertising buttons and the full color front cover shows an additional 16 buttons. Copy on back cover includes "We have a capacity of 150,000 (buttons) per day", offers 200 different "bicycle buttons for collectors" for $5.00 and lists companies for which they make buttons as: National Cigarette Co., Colgate, Fairbanks, Studebaker "And Several Thousand Others".  The outer wrapper has 5/8x7/8" loss at top left corner, 1/8x1/4" insect hole below "Edition" and stain on bottom two corners.  This stain continues on a very small corner area of each of the 24 color pages, but quite minor. The upper left wrapper loss also removed .5x.75" of the upper left corner color front cover and similar but shrinking size loss from the top left corner of the next six sheets. Vast majority of 24 color pages are clean and bright. Overall condition is Fine. Rare.
