Item Description
First is 2.5" tall heavy bronze badge with eagle hanger dated "1776-1918". Suspended medallion features Star of David and female figure of justice with scales and sword. Blank reverse.  This group was organized March 15, 1896 in New York City by Jewish vets of the Civil War. The first name was Hebrew Union Veterans Organization. In 1917, it merged with Hebrew Veterans of the War with Spain and the name became Hebrew Veterans of the Wars of the Republic as designated on this item. In 1923, "Jewish" replaced "Hebrew" in the name so this piece dates to c. 1918-1922.  Exc. Second is 1-5/16" bronze medal with obverse female head, date "Aug. 1914" and designer name "E. B. Corey".  Reverse text reads, "Remember the Lusitania/ Remember Belgium/I Will Never Sail On  A German Ship".  NM.
