Item Description
3.75x6.25" cabinet photo has "John L. Sullivan" name at bottom w/"Frank Wendt, Photo Artist, Boonton, N.J." studio name. Photo shows American boxer in evening wear, including frock coat. Sullivan is recognized as the first heavyweight champion of gloved boxing, holding the title from Feb. 7, 1882, to 1892. He is generally recognized as the last heavyweight champion of bare-knuckle boxing under the London Prize Ring Rules. Photo is a bit lt. as printed but image itself remains clear. Card has some corner tip wear and some small spots of staining at upper right and along right margin. Fine overall.
