Item Description

16.5x22.5" page from the Nov. 17, 1942 edition of "The Tampa Daily Times" newspaper features nearly full page ad that is very similar to Cleveland "Plain Dealer" sign (see item #1871) announcing Sunday page debut. The "Superman" Sunday page debuted Jan. 16, 1939 and was picked up by various newspapers around the country in the years following. This page shows it made its way to Florida by the end of 1942 (w/Nov. 23 given as start date). While announcement is similar to Plain Dealer sign, this features two additional inset images. Horizontal fold at center as issued. Page has moderate age toning, but remains supple w/just trace edge wear. Fine overall. Great piece for framing. Franco Toscanini Collection.
