Item Description
Lot of original art for Whitman coloring book No. 1189, ©1966 NPP, Inc. Lot consists of pen and ink original art for full set of 128 pages, including title page. Each page has approx. 7.25x10" artboard w/original art applied to larger printer sheet. Story deals w/Superman and Lois Lane investigating a nefarious company, revealing an anti-Superman plane (shaped like a dragon) featuring Kryptonite, Superman shrinking and saving Lois and Jimmy Olsen. Art features Superman (both in costume and as Clark Kent), Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and Perry White. Each has caption text paste-over at bottom and has handwritten ink notation as to page number. Art applied to sheets (which have varying degrees of aging/handling wear) are easily removed to frame. Exc. overall. Comes w/frosted acetate overlay for title page w/applied title paste-over and hand-colored black accents to areas that were printed in red on finished title page. Lot also includes copy of the actual coloring book, unused and in high grade condition. Exc. Extensive original art lot. Franco Toscanini Collection.
