Item Description

"The World's Greatest Superheroes" was a syndicated newspaper comic strip featuring DC Comics characters which ran Sunday/daily from April 3, 1978 to Feb. 10, 1985 (becoming "The World's Greatest Superheroes Present Superman" in Oct. 1979 and running under that title until Aug. 14, 1982). Offered here is a 5.75x17" artboard w/three panels featuring pen and ink original art featuring Superman in first panel, who confronts a disfigured woman w/mask. Dated Dec. 15, 1978, this was part of the "The Disco Disappearances" storyline that ran Oct. 25, 1978 to Jan. 21, 1979. DC Comics copyright strip paste-over in second panel w/block of correctional fluid where credit (art was by George Tuska and Vince Colletta) paste-over was placed. Margins have scattered editorial notations and center left has some small spots of staining. Fine overall, but art could be matted and framed for Exc. display. Comes w/kit promoting the start of the "The Gravity Magnifier" storyline that ran Jan. 22, 1979 to May 20, 1979. Kit includes six sheets featuring prints of strips for same storyline. Kit also features photo image of Christopher Reeve as Superman and mentions the 1978 "Superman" film. Kit has some lt. aging/handling wear and is VF to Exc. overall. Franco Toscanini Collection.
