Item Description
This truly exceptional item has a total of 24 signatures. The book comes to us from an acquaintance of Ward Kimball and in 1961 or 1962 Ward personally took the book around the Disney Studios and obtained the signatures. 8.25x11.25" hardcover by Simon & Schuster ©1958. 188 pages, book is by Bob Thomas with illustrations by the Walt Disney Studio staff. Includes numerous photos and images from Disney films along with photos of animators and other behind the scenes people. Dust jacket has obvious wear including some curling/peeling of the laminate cover, three 1.5" margin tears at top with tape repairs. Dust jacket just Good. The first and foremost signature is of Walt Disney 4.5" in length boldly signed at the center of the blank page opposite the title page. The other 23 signatures which are done in either blue, red or black ink appear on pages featuring photos of the men with the signatures boldly signed around the photos. Pages 12-13 feature "The Story Team On Sleeping Beauty" with signatures of Tom Oreb, Winston Hibler, Joe Rinaldi, Bill Peet, Don DaGradi, Ken Anderson. Page 47 signed by Xavier Atencio and Bill Justice. Pages 100-101 signed by Ernest Nordli, Don Griffith, Tom Codrick, Gerry Geronimi, Eric Larson. Pages 134-135 feature great photo of "The Nine Old Men, Veteran Disney Animators" with signatures of Milt Kahl, Frank Thomas, Woolie Reitherman, Eric Larson (his second signature in this book), Marc Davis, Les Clark, Ollie Johnston, John Lounsbery, Ward Kimball. Ward has also added an arrow pointing to his photo. Book's cover has trace of margin aging and minor corner tip wear. Still a solid, tight copy with exceptionally clean contents. Exc. One of the most remarkable Disney items we've ever offered. What better way to have the signatures than in a book featuring these men and detailing their contribution to the Disney mythos. Comes w/Hake's COA.
