Item Description
Lot of three hollow figural plaster pieces used to promote Denver, CO restaurant. All three depict upright pig holding fife whistle w/incised text on belly. 8.75" tall bank reads "Eddie Bohn - Pig'N Whistle - Denver." Pig holds painted wood rod as whistle and has one rhinestone eye accent (other is missing). Coin slot in back of head. Bank is unused w/bottom intact. Some minor scattered paint flakes, but VF overall. Comes w/matched pair of 3.5" tall salt and pepper shakers w/"Eddie Bohn" incised name on bellies. Undersides do not have cork stoppers, but these are easily replaced. Exc. All 1950s. This famous and popular Denver restaurant was founded by Eddie Bohn, a former sparring partner and friend of Jack Dempsey. This connection led to it being frequented by many boxers, baseball players and other sports figures. Bank and shaker set were sold as souvenirs there.
