Item Description
5" tall (7-3/8" tall to top of upright handle) tin litho sand pail by Ohio Art. 1930s. These pails were produced in both embossed and non-embossed varieties with and without bases. This is non-embossed variety produced w/o base. Pail features great beach scene w/Donald Duck laughing as he watches Goofy dunk Pluto under water. Mickey Mouse's nephews run by w/harpoon. Pail shows wear w/two noticeable vertical bends on opposite side and moderate rim wear, w/bare metal showing. Exterior shows scattered aging and wear in the form of small nicks/scratches and interior shows wear from use. Fine overall. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection and this is the actual example shown in their book "Comic Character Metal Sand Toys."
