Item Description
37x99" poster featuring art by L.A. Girardot showing snake handling shamans amid an eerie fire-lit hall. Man at left foreground appears to stab himself w/knife, w/blood shown. For world's fair held in Paris, France, from April 14 to Nov. 12, 1900, celebrating the achievements of the past century and to accelerate development into the next. Bottom has French text. French tax stamp at lower left of top half of poster (poster is comprised of two joined pieces). Poster has had extensive restoration to upper left corner and margins have been trimmed to the thick black margin border. Bottom corners have been trimmed to rounded corners. Originally folded, poster has been linen-mounted w/repairs/touch-ups to margin wear and poster shows wear at spot two pieces join to form overall poster, w/.75x1" chip and .5 tear. Color touch-ups at fold crease intersections. VG overall, but displays Fine as linen-mounted.
