Item Description
89.25x116.5" poster for 1913 silent disaster film starring Ethel Clayton and Harry Myers. The film, a short feature, may be the first fiction film to depict the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Poster is for French release of the Lubin Studio film and features the studio's logo at lower left. Bottom center noted "Lubin Head European Office" in London. Poster features stunning art of early fire department response to partially collapsed and burning building, w/partial early fire engine seen at left. Center is dominated by image of wagon of firemen arrived on scene, w/second wagon seen racing up the street towards fire. Poster was printed by Jordison & Co., Ltd. and is comprised of three large section and three smaller sections that have been matched up and linen-mounted in place. 6.5" split at lower left. Scattered margin wear w/some minor repairs and scattered color touch-ups. Fine/VF overall as linen-mounted. Very rare.
