Item Description
Lot of eight pieces from the early 1950s that were produced in consideration for both Tom Corbett and Captain Video. 4.5x9.75" photostat for "Captain Video Rangers Club Official Membership Kit" envelope comes w/envelope's original art, although this reads "Space Cadet" rather than "Captain Video." Design includes rocketship illustration on thin paper which has been glued to envelope. Paper has trace of tanning as glued but art remains Exc. 7x10.75" thin artboard w/pencil original art of the Secret Decoder as well as pair of decoding cards for "Captain Video Rangers." Exc. 4.25x8" frosted acetate sheet has been wrapped around stiff cardboard w/watercolor original art (w/hand-lettered instructions) for iron-on transfer. Bottom left has .5" hairline split to acetate, but art is o/w Exc. 2-7/8" dia. prototype "Video Rangers Secret Code For Written Messages" decoder on stiff paper w/original art. Inner code wheel has a few penciled example letters/numbers/symbols. Even lt. aging but VF. 8.5x10.5" sheet w/original art for front/back of membership card. Front includes "Video Rangers" spaceship logo. Sheet is lightly aged but art is Exc. 8.5x1075" typed sheet w/complete "Copy For Front/Back Of Membership Card." Sheet has three original horizontal fold lines, a few lt. corner creases, overall scattered age tanning. Right margin has some insect damage. VG/Fine. 8.5x10.5" typed premium proposal to General Foods w/materials/sizes/cost specifications to prepare 250,000 kits to be offered for 10¢ apiece. Text does not specify Captain Video by name but the proposal is for a kit of Captain Video items that consisted of four-page tabloid, iron-on transfers, membership card and certificate. Slight aging and tiny hole at center right. Fine. This is a file copy from the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
