Item Description
See previous item #1490. Lot of 15.75x21.75" and two 14.5x22.75" Strathmore artboards w/pen and ink original art for 1960s Sunday pages. Art by Joe Musial is for Oct. 9, 1960, Dec. 15, 1963 and June 20, 1965. Pages feature Hans and Fritz as well as Mama, der Captain and der Inspector. First page features Hans and Fritz tricking Mama into thinking there are moon men. Second page features Captain arriving late to dinner, only for the boys to make fun of his big feet. They proceed to make footprints leading to pantry using his shoes, only to run away when Captain shows up. Third pages features Mama offering pie to Captain and Inspector. Captain eats it all, leaving none for Inspector. Hans and Fritz offer a suggestion, and Inspector arrives wearing coat that is too large. He offers it to Captain who accepts and puts it on, only to reveal the sleeves have been sewn shut, preventing him from deflecting the many mud pies thrown at him by the trio. Art has some production notations and printing marks along margin as well as some scattered handling wear/dust soiling and aging to margin edges. Pinholes at top corners. Fine to VF overall, but art remains clean and Exc. and would make for nice display if framed.
