Item Description
This 1-5/8" litho was used two years following the original introduction of the Hopalong Cassidy Savings Club. The earlier 1950 club folders specified the highest rank button as "Foreman" given to children reaching $500 (see following item, #1780). This button is from two years later. It was awarded to members who recruited one new savings account member for the sponsoring bank, either an adult or another child. If the member recruited three new members, an Honor Member Wallet with a Hoppy decal on the brass front was awarded as well. Without question, this is the rarest of the USA issued buttons and one of only five examples we've seen in our 50 years. A few very widely scattered pinpoint dots of paint wear but button remains bright and clean. Overall condition is VF. The curl text does show some orange color fade but is still readable as "©1952-William Boyd." Rare.
