Item Description
Interesting large conical covered china dish (9" dia. w/overall height of 8.75") by English maker T&R Boote. 1910. Lid, sides and inside bottom have wonderful images from Golliwogg's creator Florence Upton's (w/text by her mother, Bertha Upton) second book of the series,"The Golliwogg's Bicycle Club." Story involved a world bicycle tour of the Golliwogg and his doll friends, showing total of nine different scenes (w/additional small scene on lid handle featuring repeated image of Golliwogg having wrecked his bicycle). Some of note include Golliwogg pulling rickshaw, meeting turban-clad Arab and bicycle race scenes. Lid handle has gold luster accent. Slightest trace of wear, but bright, glossy and Exc. overall.
