Item Description
Sizes are 7/8" to 2.25". First is 1897 lapel stud with very faded but still readable text "Fitzsimmons/High Admiral Cigarettes." His image retains full color. This is the plate example from the book "Boxing Pinback Buttons" by Muchinsky. Next is 7/8" by Bastian naming "Jeffries" c. his July 4, 1910 bout with Jack Johnson. Next is unusual and rare Joe Louis with real photo captioned "Our Champ" but unfortunately with dark brown 3/16" diameter age mark on his forehead. The paper photo is held in a brass frame with a bar pin across the tin reverse. Rare. Fourth was a white metal watch fob but the loop across the top is now removed. Front pictures "Luis Angel Firpo." There is vertical scratching on the background above his shoulder at the right. On the reverse is image of him in a boxing ring with text "Homenaje Del Chinato Garda." Three small areas of scratching and left edge has hairline 1/8" crack in the metal. Just fair condition but rare. Last is 2.25" button picturing Barbara Stanwyck and William Holden with text "Watch For Golden Boy" which was a 1939 release by Columbia Pictures based on the Clifford Odets play of the same name. Holden made his film debut in the role that made him a star as a promising violinist who also wants to be a boxer. Some light scattered hairlines in reflected light. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
