Item Description
Lot concerning two classic 1940s Quaker Oats Aunt Jemima premiums. 9-3/8x14-5/8" artboard w/attached thin sheet of paper w/mixed media prototype original art for sign promoting both "Aunt Jemima Cut-Out Doll Family" as well as "Aunt Jemima Fun Book," picturing young girl w/both w/hand-lettered text noting "To Get Doll Family, Changeable Clothes And 16 Page Fun Book Simply Send 10¢ And One Box Top From Aunt Jemima Pancake Flour To Quaker Oats Company, Chicago, Ill." Bottom also has hand-lettered text noting "Hear Aunt Jemima Daily - Station WMAQ - 8AM." Lower right has image of product box w/classic Aunt Jemima portrait. Scattered dust soiling and margin wear. Fine overall. Comes w/9x12-7/8" cut-out Aunt Jemima doll prototype w/mixed media original art. Of note, doll has die-cut eyes and separate kerchief piece that also has Aunt Jemima's pupils depicting, allowing for moving eyes by moving kerchief. Exc. Comes w/9-5/8x13.25" envelope w/attached onionskin sheet w/lead pencil prototype original art for mailing envelope containing both the premium dolls and Fun Book. Scattered dust soiling and aging w/some glue staining visible from application of sheet to envelope. Fine overall. Lot also include 5.5x8.5" stat mock-up of "Aunt Jemima Fun Book" which included games, puzzles, magic tricks, coloring pages, riddles, quiz and party novelties. Cover features images of Aunt Jemima, Uncle Mose, Wade and Diana. Stat pages were glued back-to-back, most having separated over the decades. VF overall. Lot also comes w/seven stats showing prototype art for envelope, doll clothing, etc. Scattered wear/aging, Fine to VF overall. Unique lot for the Aunt Jemima collector that has it all. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
