Item Description
12x15.75" artboard w/pen and ink original art by José Luis García-López, whose long-running relationship w/DC Comics helped shape the style of the publishing company's comic books during the 1980s. During his exclusive contract w/DC, he was responsible for penciling the style guides used by the company to provide official artwork for merchandise licenses around the world. García-López illustrated the 1982 guide (still used today as part DC Comics' retro line), a 1992 guide focused on the "Batman Returns" movie, Superman-related guides from 1991, 1994 and 2006 as well as other DC Universe guides in 1998, 2004 and 2012. Art features full body images of the Satellite Era Justice League of America - Batman (w/minuscule version of The Atom standing on his shoulder), Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Zatanna, Firestorm, Red Tornado, Hawkman and Elongated Man. Bold hand-lettered "Justice League Of America" name across top w/star border at bottom. Margins have printing marks as well as paste-over strips, including 1982 DC Comics, Inc. copyright and job code strips along bottom margin. Top/bottom margins show some lt. aging/wear but art remains clean and would display Exc. if framed. This art was published as part of the 1982 style guide, a "Super Powers" calendar in 1988 and has also been featured on a "Super Powers" poster and a licensed shirt. Wonderful JLA art by one of DC Comics' most prominent artists.
