Item Description
DeWitt dates this token to "the early 1860 period". It is a version of the larger DeWitt Clay 1844-30 but in a small size (.75") not in use in 1844 and on a quite thick flan (a full 1/8") and executed in five different metals, this one being copper. Obverse portrait and name with reverse "A Tariff For Protection".  NM with original luster traces.  See page 417 of DeWitt or page 626 of DeWitt/Sullivan. Rare. Leon Rowe Collection.
