Lot of original art for Whitman coloring book No. 1397, ©1979 DC Comics, Inc. Lot consists of acrylic paint original art on 9.75x13" artboards from front/back covers w/acetate black line overlays as well as original color guides for covers on worn 8-7/8x12" vellum sheets attached to black paper. Painted art is Exc. while color guides shows obvious wear and are VG. Lot also comes w/14x19-5/8" artboard w/attached printed bw art for front/back covers w/vellum overlay w/text paste-overs and additional worn paper overlay w/production notations in regards to text and title coloring. Artboard shows some corner tip wear and is Fine though art stats remains Exc. Comes w/file copy of the actual coloring book, unused and in high grade condition. Exc. This extensive original art lot from the Whitman Archives shows the concept as a work in progress from idea to production. Unique. Franco Toscanini Collection.
