Item Description
Original 4x9.5" glossy silver gelatin photo showing 18 team members (plus bat boy) in uniforms and posed on a ball field. National Baseball HOF members include Martin Dihigo (front row far right, who was 17 at the time and this is most certainly his first image as a professional player), John Henry "Pop" Lloyd (front row third from the left) and Cristobal Torriente (standing at far left). Other players of note include Adolfo Luque and Mike Gonzalez both Cubans who played in the Major Leagues. Photo has noticeable wear and some missing pieces and has been mounted to a sheet of stiff cardboard for reinforcement. The areas of loss are at the center and some player's bodies are impacted but not any faces. Other scattered aging and some tiny scattered surface paper flakes. Tip off top left corner. Just Good but photo remains glossy and image is sharp and bold. Historic team photo and the only of its kind in the Merkin Collection. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
