Item Description
22-1/8x30.75" thin cardboard poster for concerts that took place over a week, beginning Oct. 18, 1963. Concerts took place at the Royal Theater in Baltimore, MD and featured a number of acts. Topping the bill is James Brown, w/poster noting his cover of country song "Signed, Sealed And Delivered" as well as noting he appeared w/Anna King, Bobby Byrd and The Famous Flames. Large photo of Brown appears at left. Other performers included - Garnet Mims & Enchanters, Major Lance, Pigmeat Marham & Co. as well as an early performance by Patty LaBelle and The Blue Belles, who had just been signed the year before. Poster notes their first hit, "Down The Aisle," which charted on both the Bilboard Pop and R&B Top 40 charts. Mims, Markham and LaBelle's groups are also pictured. Poster was printed by Globe Poster of Baltimore, MD. Date at bottom marked in pen. Staple holes at corners w/1" pull at top left w/archival tape repairs on back as well as at top right. Bottom left has .75" tear at staple w/archival tape repair on back. Another staple hole at center has archival tape backing. 2.5" long T-shaped tear on neck of James Brown photo image w/archival tape repair on reverse. Pigmeat Markham image has 1.75" long tear w/archival tape repair on reverse. Some scattered faint moisture staining along bottom margin, but overall, poster retains a Fine display.
