Item Description
10.75x12x2.25" deep window box w/stamped label area reading - "Space Girl." Late 1950s. Box lid (w/pumpkin-shaped die-cut opening) has cellophane window intact w/.5" split at top right and lid has some scattered corner creasing. Box is VF overall. Contained within is size small (4-6), two-piece rayon costume (w/separate hood). Top has silk-screened rocketship design. Costume is unworn w/original tag intact. Fabric has some scattered age spotting but costume is o/w VF. Starched linen mask has thin plastic sheet behind eyeholes and attached starched linen antenna is tipped w/thin foil disc, which has some few bends as boxed. Mask has hand-painted detailing to raised portions, including lightning bolt on forehead and has original string (though one metal end piece has some oxidation). VF/Exc. Old store stock. A very interesting costume for the space collector. Rare.
