Item Description
Produced in France for export to the USA as a fashion accessory, similar boxes were made for Washington, Lafayette, Jackson and Taylor. This is one of the very few J.Q.A. items to include a portrait and this is in exceptionally bright color. 1.75 x 2.75 x .5" thick designed as a book with glass covers; the front featuring folk art style portrait and the reverse glass over a large shield enclosing inscription "Forget Me Not". The glass covers are assembled with cardboard to form a gold foil spine with side edges colored and embossed to simulate gold-leaf page edges of a fine book. Embossed paper trim surrounds the front and back cover borders with the only significant loss down the right edge of the front panel. Front cover opens and interior of cover holds a mirror opposite the open area for storage. The front cover bottom right corner has hairline .25" and 1/8" pair of glass cracks but this limited damage is much less than typical for these items. Structurally sound and with exceptionally clean and bright portrait. VF.
