Item Description
7-5/8x29" thin artboard w/India ink art by original "Tailspin Tommy" artist Hal Forrest, who worked on the strip for 14 years, beginning in 1928. Art is for strip No. 2140, published in 1935 by Bell Syndicate. Top margin has hand-lettered "Gomez Acts Mysterious!" title. Art features four panels, w/Tommy and another pilot pleading w/Mexican general for the life of their friend, Bill McGuire, who was scheduled to be shot in the morning. Forrest has signed last panel. Right margin has printer's label. Back has Bell printing label. Text balloons and first panel text block have some aged paste-overs and/or glue staining. Artboard is Fine overall while art remains clean and VF.
