Item Description
First are two items created for or by the "TV-Radio Pool", one a 4" patch and the other a brass rimmed plastic insert mounted on an apparent marble paperweight 2" square by .75" thick in its generic box. Text on both includes "President Nixon Visit To Peoples Republic Of China/February 1972". Following the visit, in a Chinese tradition known as "panda diplomacy", dating back to 600s when a Chinese emperor sent pandas to the Japanese emperor, China sent Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing to DC and Mrs. Nixon presented them to the National Zoo. This lot includes pair of litho tin yo-yos 1-5/16" diameter with panda image on each side. Last is a 2.5" button from early in the Watergate scandal with pandas on the button satirically renamed as "Tzickers" and "Tzeckers".  Small raised bump as made from reverse bar pin. All Mint except as noted. Fred Noye Collection.
