Item Description
John Logan, Jr. (1927-2013) was a MLB shortstop signed by the Boston Braves in 1947, playing there 1951-1961 and w/the Pittsburgh Pirates 1961-1963. He was a four-time All-Star and led the NL in doubles in 1955. Logan was the first MLB batter Sandy Koufax faced. Logan was also a member of the 1957 World Series Champion Braves. Lamp w/Boston Braves theme stands 20.5" tall (25.75" to top of finial). 9x9.25" wooden base has attached 1950s Johnny Logan Louisville Slugger baseball bat w/handle removed and socket attached to end. Base has small hole, likely for holding baseball to complete display. Base, bat and socket are aged and shows some scattered wear but lamp works and is Fine/VF overall. Lamp comes w/four-sided rectangular shade w/thin opaque panels, each featuring photo image of players in Boston Braves uniforms (prior to the team's move to Milwaukee) and dates to 1951-1952. Players featured include - Logan, HOF pitcher Warren Spahn, catcher Del Crandall and Earl Torgeson. Logan panel has some surface marks to face and some moderate dust soiling and each panel shows obvious aging. Some scattered age spotting by vinyl "stitches" securing panels to shade frame. VG overall. High quality piece, likely just done as a team/player presentation piece. From the Logan Family Estate and comes w/signed LOA to that effect.
