Item Description
Clothbound slipcase w/facsimile gold foil Bob Kane signature contains 8.75x11.25" hardcover by Eclipse Books, ©1989 Bob Kane. Slipcase is NM. First printing. Subtitled "An Autobiography By Bob Kane" w/156 pages featuring art/photos chronicling Kane's career as well as full color reprints of Batman stories from New York World's Fair 1940 comic and "World's Finest Comics" #6 from 1942. Original owner has removed plain yellow flyleaf pages from front/back, but book comes w/glossy color paper (featuring cover illustration from "Detective Comics" #31) bookplate signed in black ink by Kane which was originally tipped-in inside front cover. Bookplate has "140/1000" edition number, part of an edition that also came w/an original sketch by Kane, all of which differed somewhat. Book comes w/7.5x10" sheet of art paper w/superb portrait image of Batman drawn by his creator. Sheet has some lt. corner tip wear and crease across top as art was originally attached inside book, but is o/w VF/Exc. and would look great framed. Book has some corner creases to top front right corner and .5" split on spine. Book is VF overall w/NM pages. Bookplate has crease across top but Kane's signature remains Exc. A great item for any Batman fan, as it chronicles both Batman and the man behind the Bat - Bob Kane.
