Item Description
14x22" cardboard window card by "Murray Poster Printing Co." advertising a "Dance Saturday February, 22" 1958 at the "Rock Island Armory, Rock Island, Ill." Portrait of a smiling 'Fats' at bottom left w/additional text at right "Imperial Records Star" and listing hit singles  "I'm Walking" and "Blue Monday." Minor professional restoration at top corners filling two pin holes. One pin hole at top center and in each bottom corner. Overall light handling wear and faint scattered age toning. Fine. This is the only example of this striking poster we have encountered. "Blue Monday" was a Billboard R&B No. 1 hit maintaining the spot for 8 weeks in 1957 and was an early crossover to the Billboard Pop chart reaching as high as No. 5 after the song was featured in the film The Girl Can't Help It. "I'm Walking" bumped "Blue Monday" from the top spot on the R&B chart making it the third No. 1 in a row for the Creole pianist. It maintained the spot for six weeks and peaked on the Billboard Pop chart at No. 4. This poster has it all; extreme rarity, historical relevance and outstanding graphics.
