Item Description
13.5x22" screen printed on Crescent board. 1963. Advertising a "Bonnie Dobson And The New Lost City Ramblers" concert at "Earlham College Nov. 13, 8:15" and noting "Profits To SNCC." Dobson, the Canadian folk signer songwriter, is best known for her song 'Morning Dew' that has been widely covered and is considered a folk standard. The Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee was among the foremost civil rights organizations during the early 1960s. The liberal arts Earlham College is located in the small Indiana community of Richmond. Tape remnants at top right and left corners and minor surface paper loss at bottom left otherwise only minor handling and edge wear. Fine. Given the location and the printing methods this is likely one of a handful produced to advertise the show locally and was saved by a student at the college. Given the circumstances of printing and the location this is an amazing survivor and we would be surprised if there was another extant example.
